The article considers the prospects for perception of self-management as a legitimate kind of science and management practice. Achievements of modern management, psychology, sociology and other human sciences should be recognized and used as the basis for competencies in self-management. The author suggests a wide range of self-management competencies based on the achievements of modern fundamental and applied humanities that enhance the systemic character in solving problems of life, activity, human development and management skills. These competencies can serve as a reference point in the self-development of a person, and the basis for developing his management skills, identifying areas of self-research and topics for self-management training.
