This article discusses the issue of women’s participation in management. The author investigated the trend of empowering women, raised the issue of “glass ceiling” and considered the role of stereotypes in the modern world, as well as the causes of gender diversity. The analysis of statistical data allowed concluding that the number of women holding managing positions has been increasing, as well as their overall influence.
Highlights:
► over the past few decades, a significant progress has been made in promotion of women holding down and middle management positions
► stereotypes are partly the cause of difficulties faced by women in achieving leading positions
► gender stereotypes are based mainly on historic roles and biological destination
► at the moment, there is no perfect model of management in terms of gender
