The article presents an overview of methodological approaches to assessing the effectiveness of food industry management at the regional level. A new concept of "regional product value chain" (regional product value chain - RPVC), which is a sequence of actions to create added value by raw materials, production links and distribution links operating in the territory of one region, is introduced in the terminological apparatus. The methodology of evaluating the effectiveness of management of the food products value chain at the regional level, based on the process approach, the concept of added value, the system of balanced statistical indicators and the taxometric method, is developed. To assess the effectiveness of management, a system of indicators which reflects the industry features of the key links of the RPVC of the food industry has been developed. The main advantage of the proposed method, unlike others, is the ability to determine the achieved level of management of RPVC of the food industry as a whole, and in the context of three key links: raw materials, production and distribution. This approach will allow to evaluate comprehensively the results of the RPVC links of the food industry based on the calculation of the integral three-component index. Approbation of the authors' technique is carried out on the example of the food industry of the Orenburg region.
