The article is devoted to the study of the employee turnover rate in the energy sector companies and the determination of the causes of staff turnover in the energy industry, the identification of problems in the personnel management system that increase the studied indicator. Many large domestic enterprises, which have a history of several decades, face the problem of staff turnover on a par with younger and smaller companies. It would seem that the age and scale of the company should talk about the stability of work in it and acceptable working conditions, but nevertheless the staff goes in search of more suitable jobs. The study of the causes of staff turnover, as well as the development of methods and measures to reduce this indicator are relevant and priority areas in the work of personnel management services of any company. This is due to the fact that the selection of new staff in the company is always accompanied by costs associated with the recruitment and adaptation of employees. For this reason, the employer pays high attention to the retention of qualified and experienced staff within the organization, by means of, for example, the introduction of a system of "personnel reserve". Employee turnover is considered by employers as an expensive consequence of the use of the external labor market. [5, p. 33] Locally, at the level of organization, the causes of staff turnover are most often investigated, but in comparison with other similar companies, research is rarely conducted. At the national level, only general information on staff turnover and its quantitative expression is consolidated. The reason is that employers do not always publish such information due to its confidentiality. However, a comparison of staff turnover and the reasons for it can show the real situation in certain areas of activity of enterprises. In addition, similar organizations can learn from the experience of combating the increase in this indicator, if such data are published in the public domain. To carry out the study, the enterprises of the electric power industry of Russia were considered.
