Abstract:

The article deals with the staff retention in the agricultural sector. Based on sociological research and economic analysis there have been revealed the dominant factors that determine high retention of young agricultural professionals. The author described an interconnection between social and demographic conditions and the level of staff availability in the agro-industrial sector of the region, suggested measures to improve staffing based on active state support for the industry.

Highlights:

► growth of staff retention in the country is possible with the recovery and development of state system of target contract training of professionals based on the needs of the regional market, modernization of existing and development of new option for social and economic support of the graduates in their capacity as “young professionals”, improvement of professional growth and introduction of innovative incentive systems similar to those used in other sectors
► according to sociological research the monthly salary is of high priority in the system of motivational needs of graduates: the minimum required salary level that would satisfy the young professionals is 27 000 rubles, which is 2.2 times higher than that established in the agriculture
► when determining trends of improvement of agricultural staff retention, it is not enough to consider only the financial preferences of the state, but it is necessary to take into account measures aimed at increasing the prestige and improvement of social conditions of the agricultural industry
► based on existing state activities on support for young professionals, it seems appropriate to introduce a lump-sum payment of 500 000 rubles to provide initial accommodation necessary for a young professional, to increase the standard area in square meters for the young professional and to pay the entire cost of housing at the expense of the state budget
