The article provides the results of the study of the solutions of the problem of top-management succession in organizations. It has been shown that a certain instability related to shifts in leadership occurs in organizations from time to time. The circumstances of such shifts lead to all kinds of transitions (from “chameleon” to “pioneer”), often having the most unexpected consequences. The conclusion is made that the state needs to understand how to create such conditions when the state encourages civilized succession process and the leaders are forced to constantly look for a reliable successor.
