The article discusses the concept of “intergenerational transfer”. The authors proved that the transfer component, which is having a negative impact on the territory and whole national economy, is the number of human resources. The authors has defined the causes of steady decline in the number of economically active population. The authors has proposed a set of directions for leveling the negative impact of the examined intergenerational transfer on the development of social and economic conditions of the region.
