Abstract:

The article raises the question of the considerable difference between the planned and the actual lifetimes of a residential building and of one of the factors causing this difference which is a social factor. It presents the data of analysis carried out in the United States, showing that today the average lifetime of a residential building is 61 years with a deviation of 25 years. The necessity of further research in this area is argued, which will allow planning correctly the expenses at the governmental level, construction operational management costs.
