The preservation of our country's state sovereignty and economic security is associated with effective structural reforms and improving the quality of life of the population, which is enshrined in the may decrees of the President of the Russian Federation in 2018 and is associated with the implementation of new national projects on a federal scale. In the current conditions, project management, as a highly effective tool for the implementation of large-scale and unique strategic tasks of the state, requires special professional skills and knowledge from the management system. The relevance of the topic of this work, dedicated to improving the quality of training of management personnel of individual companies and the system of project management of large-scale national projects in an ever-increasing production requirements, external challenges, threats and uncertainty becomes even more relevant. The purpose of the research is based on the systematization of the accumulated Russian and foreign experience to develop measures for improving the system of training of managerial staff of major Russian companies in the framework of the implementation of the new national projects. In the course of the research, such general scientific methods as economic analysis and synthesis, logic, sociological surveys and questionnaires were used. The paper concludes that the maturity and efficiency of the national project management system, as well as the probability of their successful completion, depend on the level of preparedness of management personnel. The practical significance of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the proposed measures to improve the system of training, retraining and advanced training of personnel on the example of a large Russian company in the oil and gas sector of the economy. The results obtained in the course of the study may be useful for representatives of public authorities, specialists in the field of personnel management, as well as experts whose professional interests include solving problems of improving the efficiency of the management system of new national projects of federal importance.
