The article considers the criteria and indicators of food security, identifies and reveals the factors affecting the food security of the region, their classification. The urgency of the problems of food security at all levels and the conditionality of development in this regard is highlighted. The authors propose an approach to assessing the level of food security on the basis of generalization of the results of the study, which are based on the indicators of different directions of use of food resources: consumption, production, management, their thresholds and indicative status. The authors have developed the system of indicators of food security of the region, including functional and economic availability of food, sufficiency of its consumption for the population and quality and presented the results of testing the level of food security in the Krasnoyarsk region, Khakassia, Tuva and the macro-region as a whole are presented. The main directions of increase of food security of Yenisei Siberia are defined.
