Abstract:

The article emphasizes the growth of uncertainty in connection with the trends of world development, globalization, increasing interdependencies between countries and regions. In these conditions, the question is raised about the formation of the regional strategy for creating favorable conditions for the further development of the territory. The definitions of the term "strategy" are presented, and approaches to the definition of this concept are highlighted. The historical development of the appearance of the term "strategic planning" is analyzed. The foreign experience of approaches to the concept of "strategy" is analyzed, the classifications for each of the authors are given, the features of the strategy are highlighted from the position of these authors. The factors for ensuring the successful implementation of the strategy are given. The functions of the strategy at the regional level are considered. Details of the process of strategic planning, highlighting the features of the formation of the successful strategy. The role of strategic planning in the system of regional management is considered.
