The article is devoted to the analysis of statistical data characterizing the dynamics of the disabled people as an important social group with its division into relevant categories. The emphasis is made on studying the characteristics of disabled people within working age as the most important object of state employment policy. As the most important tendencies are noted: reduction of the contingent of the invalids within working age; a low percentage of employment among the invalids within working age; a disproportionately high percentage of employed disabled people in the retirement age. In this connection, proposals have been formulated for, first, a radical reduction of so-called "shadow" employment of disabled people, second, significant increase in the investments aimed on the creation of adapted working facilities for invalids.
