Kiyanenko Konstantin Vasilevich – (Vologda State Pedagogical University)
The phenomenon of multifunctionality in housing, its origins, evolution, current state, factors of formation and advantages are considered from interdisciplinary positions. Author is carrying out a comparison of the concepts of multifunctional residential units and their content – in the Russian and foreign advanced housing theory and practice. The uncertainty of domestic definitions is revealed. The differences between Russian and English terminology are explained. The conclusion is made about the expediency to distinguish three forms of multifunctionality in housing, differing in the degree of integration of functions: conglomerates, complexes and hybrids. The connection between the forms of multifunctionality and the market conditions (supply and demand) that form them is established.
