Kiyanenko Konstantin V. – Vologda State University (Vologda State University)
The study guide examines the theory, procedure and methodology of architectural programming ‒ pre-project research aimed at clarifying the concept and parameters of the building designed by architect and the built environment. As applied to architecture training, it is a question of a stage that precedes the implementation of the graduate qualifying project and is devoted to the substantiation of the theme of GQP, the specification of the design object, its quantitative and qualitative characteristics, as well as site selection, analysis of design standards, regulations and precedents. The text of the study guide, and the concepts, approaches and methods described in it are based on a half-century tradition of architectural programming abroad, on the most advanced practice of developing «technical assignments» and «design assignments» in Russian architecture and on two decades of experience in socio-functional substantiation of diploma projects and works at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Vologda State University. All research algorithms are visualized by examples of professional and student work. The study guide is addressed to students in the field of «Architecture» 07.03.01 and can be used within the disciplines «Graduate qualifying work», «Graduation project», «Architectural design», «Architectural studies» and similar to them in content and purpose, primarily ‒ at the stage of bachelor, and also at the graduate level.
