The article examines the state of the modern world economy as a system of states that have the status of an international division of labor. He studies the volume of exports and imports in Russia and major international associations and organizations. The stages of implementation of decisions of the executive authorities on control and regulation of foreign trade activity of Russia are illustrated. Dynamics of indicators of economic development of the USA, China and other states is given. Assesses the potential and opportunities for implementing its foreign trade policy in the conditions of the development of the world economic community. The article concludes that it is necessary to improve the methodology for assessing assets and liabilities, the value of which is expressed in foreign currency; the exclusion of foreign trade barter as an inefficient institution of world trade.
