Abstract:

The article considers the interim results of the implementation of principles that ensure the improvement of corporate governance of public companies. Using the example of public companies in St. Petersburg, we analyze the compliance of local corporate governance practices with European standards and all-Russian indicators. In particular, we consider the issues related to the number and gender composition of the Board of Directors; we characterize the committees of the Board of Directors and summarize the criteria of the "independence" of directors. We present the generalized findings of the study.
