The article considers social factors affecting the quality of life of the population. We analyze negative consequences of mass reduction of volumes of suburban rail transportations in regions by the example of the Novgorod area. We identify factors affecting the reduction of the transport accessibility for the population, and as a result, the reduction in the number of economically active population in the regions.
