The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of social scoring as a new information resource for classifying bank clients while determining their creditworthiness. The article presses the concept of "social scoring", analyzes the peculiarities of information resources of clients (potential borrowers) using the data from social networking profiles, reviews and systematizes the results of studies conducted by experts of the RosBusinessConsulting news agency in the area under study. In the process of research we’ve identified banks which in modern conditions actively use social scoring as a new banking technology in crediting. We study in more details the criteria for selecting clients' information from social networks based on their accounts. We conclude that application and further development of social scoring in the crediting in modern Russian banks can greatly improve the efficiency of their activities, improve the quality of the loan portfolio, stimulate the creation of new improved processes in the credit system, minimize the level of credit risk, create new channels of interaction with clients.
