Belyaeva Irina – Candidate of Science, Philology, MGIMO University (MGIMO University)
The study by Belyaeva I.G. starts with the reasoning of the need to use the term literary epigraph and with its definition, based on the analysis of the accumulated extensive practical and theoretical material on the literary epigraph. In the monograph the author focuses on the aspects of literary epigraph, which are still unexplored, despite a fairly large number of works devoted to this topic. It is, first of all, the aspect of the application of literary epigraphs, which is quite extensive, as well as the functions that it involves. There is also one of the practically unexplored areas of the application of literary epigraphs, namely, glosses, which are one the most interesting and half- forgotten literary technique. The material accumulated in the author’s monograph, which involves epigraphic texts and discourses, allows expanding the existing classification of literary epigraphs. 2000 epigraphic texts and discourses (both creolized and non-creolized) by Russian, German, English, Spanish, Italian authors serve as the basis for the analysis and classification of literary epigraphs. The study is not only of theoretical interest for philologists and linguists from the point of view of analyzing texts and discourses, but also of practical interest for teachers of both comprehensive and higher schools.
