The article presents the results of a sociological study aimed at identifying precedents for the development of activities with regular income by non-profit organizations in Central Kazakhstan. Using the simplest scheme of business model, namely, value proposition, consumers, value chain and resources, income generation schemes, the authors using the case analysis method identify the main types of organizations' income activity and describe the variants of the applied business models. These types involve the maximum use of tangible and intangible assets, additional income using cheap resources, accessibility model with a standard proposal and crowdfinding model. Business models based on commercialization of services that are similar or complementary to the profile detail are the most successful in non-profit organizations. As a rule, this business model involves qualified labor resources and the previous resource support of partners, including foreign ones. Fuzzy positioning of competitive advantages, lack of a clear development strategy, including marketing, are weaknesses of non-profit organizations.
