The article studies the experience of mortgage lending of leading developing countries of the world, namely Russia, India and China. We touch upon historical background of reforming and modernizing housing finance systems. We analyze the structure of housing finance institutions in the mortgage market, schemes of financial flows of certain specialized financial institutions, characteristics of the organization of housing finance systems with an emphasis on mortgage housing lending in Russia, India and China. We focus on the study of the resource base of mortgage lending and lending conditions in the analyzed countries. In the article we conduct a comparative analysis of the main indicators of housing markets and mortgage lending in Russia, India and China. The statistical data of the European Mortgage Federation, Central Banks of Russia, India and China, Russian Federal State Statistics Service and Agency for Housing Mortgage Lending serves as an information base of the comparative analysis. We prove that the experience of organizing mortgage markets of India and China is undoubtedly useful for Russia. At the same time, due to the similarity of the economic "base" for the construction and organization of the HML system, this experience is perhaps more significant for Russia than the experience of the countries of Europe and the USA. Russia also needs to develop its own model for the development of the mortgage market, based on international experience and its unique own platform.
