Abstract:

Globalization processes have prompted a revision and addition to earlier concepts and submissions. The theoretical approaches to the concepts of ethnicity and nation have been no exception. Significantly different interpretations in domestic tradition and foreign practice make them worth considering. On the basis of constructivist understanding of ethnicity, which does not deny cultural differences, the article present Balibar's views on language community and race community.

Highlights:

•Increased polyethnicity of societies and their cultural hybridization are one of the system indicators of globalization
•Understanding of sociocultural similarity and difference allows a person to identify himself as a representative of a certain community
