Abstract:

The article is devoted to the study of the employment structure by economic activities and its efficiency in the regions of the Russian Federation. In the paper we consider efficiency as the ratio of performance to cost. We examined employment efficiency by types of activity according to production and financial criteria and capacity to meet social needs of the population of the region. From the point of view of the production criterion we consider the employment of the region as efficient, if it is characterized by the minimum unit cost of resources per unit of output. We consider the employment of the region as cost-effective if it has maximally accumulated the financial resources of the region. We study social orientation in terms of the purchasing power of the population. The proposed methodology, based on methods of multidimensional classification and dimensionality reduction, made it possible to allocate regions with the most efficient employment in the federal districts.
