Abstract:

Azerbaijan is going through a turning point in the transition from a fuel-energy model to an innovative model. Economic development of the country is the main direction of state policy at the present stage during the period of low oil prices. Most government programs are aimed at promoting the development of the non-oil sector. The state concept of the "Strategic Roadmap" confirms it. According to the concept there is a stage-by-stage revitalization of all sectors of the economy. The article examines the main directions in the development of tourism industries, the rational use of hydrocarbon reserves, and urban development. The article also covers the integration of the Republic of Azerbaijan into the world economy and expansion of foreign trade, which results from the restructuring of the transport infrastructure. The paper also examines the issues of the rational use of the country's transit capabilities, the increase of the competitiveness of domestic freight carriers and the development of export of transport services. The article suggests interesting recommendations based on the summarizing of the current state of some industries.
