Abstract:

The paper reveals the key issues of economic integration of Papua-New Guinea at the beginning of the 21st century. Using English and Chinese media-sources we describe the reasons that explain why it is difficult for such a big country to incorporate in the architecture of foreign relations of the South Pacific Region. We show the roles of Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Chinese companies of PRC, which are the key players in the global and regional space and have a significant impact on the economy of this country. We give a detailed forecast why it is still impossible for Papua -New Guinea to integrate in the foreign economy relations system of the South Pacific Region. That situation makes Papua-New Guinea play only a supporting role in the big game of the powers' balance in the Asia-Pacific Region.
