Abstract:

The article considers the issues of typing of basic business models used in social entrepreneurship for identifying types and strategic analysis of organizations in Kazakhstan. We consider Grassmann structure as a basis of the business model, which mark out four elements of the economic value formation such as supply, target consumers, chain and resources for creating value, the mechanism for deriving income from activities. We suggest the approach which unites this business scheme and an inclusive approach to social entrepreneurship. That allows us to define the profile of the social component against the background of the basic economic model. On the basis of this methodology we identify five typical models and describe the content of their elements, taking into account the production of economic value and social effect. The application of the case method to 21 organizations of social entrepreneurship made it possible to identify the types of applied business models and to analyze them and at the same time identify the main problems and opportunities for long-term development. The results of the study give a reason to mark a number of features in organizations that appeared on the basis of the non-profit sector and organizations that were originally created for a business project.

Highlights:

•We identified successful income-generating activities in non-profit organizations in the field of special services for people with disabilities (of all ages) and elderly people, services for professional sports for children

•Business models with a separate production unit are the least developed models

•A common weak feature of business models of these organizations is the desire to maximize the diversification of the value proposition of goods and services with a fuzzy positioning of their specific advantages and a lack of positive examples and feedback

•The conditions for increasing the economic independence of the subjects of non-commercial sector in the long term will be the provision of new resource opportunities within the framework of the partnership in the sector (with trade unions and parties) and with other sectors and the improvement of regulatory and legal conditions for stimulating social entrepreneurship
