Obzhorin Alexey – The founder of popular science magazine meteor city, Chelyabinsk, Russia
The essay analyzes the factors hindering the popularization of scientific knowledge of Russian scientists. We describe the official quality criteria of science publications, established by the state and the actual requirements. The paper addresses the issues of commercialization of the science publication process in modern Russia, and ineffective communication of scientists with each other and with people not included in the scientific community. The possible solutions for the problems outlined.
Highlights:
• There are three main problems associated with each other: the lack of unified criteria of science papers quality, “commercial” publications, ineffective communication between scientists
• a large number of modern Russian researchers are unsure of the quality of their work and are willing to pay for the publication, which will not "dig" other scientists
• Publications by Russian scientists are used solely to transmit information, but do not captivate the audience, they are not available for a wide range of people
• The criterion for scientific ideas, performances, publication is the awakening of the interest of a greater number of people
• The preponderance of "empty", commercial publications will not be a problem from the moment when each of us will give up the desire to "produce" publications "for show", but instead will invest meaning in every spoken and written word
