Abstract:

The present work is dedicated to the relevant issues in Nutrition Science and Dietology, the latest data concerning the role of genetic and environmental factors in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the significance of dietary factor in the correction of postprandial blood glucose, the influence of the nutrition factor on the main pathogenetic mechanisms underlying this disease, modern principles of dietary therapy at type 2 diabetes mellitus. In the monograph, theoretical and practical aspects of the development of specialist foods with modified carbohydrate profile for the patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus have been discussed. The possibilities and prospects of using special confectionery products in the complex therapy of type 2 diabetes mellitus have been identified. The monograph may be of interest for dieticians, endocrinologists, specialists in food tech-nologies, as well as for students of medical schools and professional advancement courses in Dietology and Nutrition Science.
