Abstract:

The article tells about the rise of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and the Russian national system of higher economic education in general. Particular attention is paid to the key role of Russian entrepreneurs – merchants, industrialists and financiers – in this process, which can also be classified as a manifestation of corporate social responsibility. In addition to the history of the Plekhanov RUE formation, the fate of some of its founders is also described, representing the most archetypal examples of Russian entrepreneurs of early XX ct. – Alexey S. Vishnyakov, Hugo M. Marc, Alexander N. Naydenov.
