Abstract:

Theoretical and empirical studies within the framework of the concept of new economic geography have identified the existence of agglomeration effects and spatial nonuniformity in the economic development of the regions. The closer the regions to each other, the greater the turnover of commodities therebetween, which, eventually, leads to an economic growth of the whole country. The present article discusses the origins of agglomeration concept, reveals the main foreign approaches based on which a territory may be related to the category “agglomeration”.
