Since the mechanism of the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) was launched for the first time in Great Britain over 20 years ago, the benefits from its application are tangible to the effectiveness of public health services provision. This article presents an analytical review of the implementation of PPP projects in health facilities in Great Britain. Considering the adoption by the Ministry of Finance of the new approach to the development of PPPs, the so-called Private Finance 2 (PF2), the article examines its major innovations. We also pay attention to the impact of the PFI program in the healthcare sector on the financial situation in the Branches of the British National Healthcare System. We consider the possible risks that the private sector might confront with during the implementation of PFI projects in health facilities. The article can be considered as excellent sources of information to students studying this topic, to PPP experts and practitioners, and to those interested in the processes of public and private sector interactions in healthcare.
