The book discusses the possibility of studying the system organisation of German fiction texts from metasemiotic position, it means through consideration of formal properties of its elements-signs. Due to identification of the constituents of the metasemiotic space of narrative fiction texts and definition of their characteristics on the level of formal and content features, they are interpreted as signs of a closed semiotic system with respective semantic, syntagmatic and pragmatic properties. Determination of these properties and the range of their validity, establishment of a hierarchy between them are included in the objectives of this study, which is urged to reveal some patterns of meaning in a text, as well as to promote understanding of its point. The publication is intended for philologists studying general issues of text linguistics as well as for researchers of German fiction
