Abstract:

Under conditions of the economic stagnation, Russia needs to search for regional factors influencing on the concentration of quick-growing companies (the so-called “gazelles”). The authors have checked the hypothesis on the importance of the regions’ innovative potential as a positive factor of concentration of “gazelles” of the manufacturing industry. The performed econometric analysis has proved that the concentration of “gazelles” on the regional level depends on the human capital quality and on the share of the people employed in R & D, but the greatest role belongs to the presence and proximity of large markets.
