ISO 14001, a widely used international standard related to environmental management systems that has not been changes for the past eleven years (this is the only example of exceeding regulatory time limits of such regulatory documents cross international standardization) is finally released in a new version in the 4th quarter of 2015. In this regard, the article provides an analysis of the new requirements for environmental management systems. It also describes the specifics of the transition to a new version of international standard related to a significant transformation of the requirements applicable by the business to the of environmental management tools.

► ISO/IEC Directive introduced in 2014, stipulates that requirements of all management system standards (environmental, quality, food safety, etc.) are reduced to a single form
► а single procedure for document management in the enterprise, incorporation of environmental protection requirements within the selection of suppliers and contractors or arrangement of staff training shall be defined in the context of environmental protection
► from the date of official publication of ISO 14001:2015 scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2015 a transition period for implementing the requirements of the new version of the standard shall be counted down
