Abstract:

The article analyzes development trends and features of the labor market in the Orenburg region. Particular attention is paid to its development priorities. Given the fact that the Orenburg region is an agricultural and industrial region and almost half the population lives in rural areas, we formulated basic practical trends for the development of labor potential and mitigation of employment issues in rural areas.

Highlights:

► labor market of the region is a key element of regional market system, as it forms human resources that carry out daily evolution of society
► the main trends of the labor market in the Orenburg region are: the imbalance of demand and supply of labor, vacancies structured by sex and age, the oscillatory nature of unemployment, etc.
► the main objective of the labor market in the Orenburg region is to ensure efficient use of labor force and to improve labor market functioning
► important development priorities of the labor market in the Orenburg region are reflected in the Strategy for the Development of the Orenburg region up to 2020 and for the period up to 2030
► given the regional specifics of the Orenburg region as agricultural and industrial region the economy of which is focused on agriculture, it is necessary to develop the market at the level of rural communities
► as the Orenburg region is a border region of the Russian Federation, it has to use its geographical position in solving the problems of human capital development related to human resources
