The issue of sustainable development is being raised with increasing frequency in the current conditions of economic instability. Sustainable development allows cities to not only develop stably, but also think about future generations and thus use territorial resources in an efficient way, at the lowest costs. In addition, the concept of “sustainable development” is blurry, there are no generally accepted definitions and, therefore, there are no clear parameters or factors that would determine it; this substantiates the relevance of the research topic. The suggested methods allow generalizing social and economic factors, identifying key measurable indicators of social and economic development of a city, evaluating the efficiency of social and economic development, and comparing the results obtained in different city.
