Abstract:

The article explores the innovation potential of the Russian regions, i.e. the capability of regional innovative systems to create and apply new technologies. According to our analysis, the innovation potential is concentrated in the largest nuclei – metropolitan areas with innovative sites having higher probabilities of new technologies development forming around them.
