Abstract:

The article is devoted to the problems of efficient insurance protection of property (technical risk) of electric grid companies. The author reviews measures being actualized at present and intended to decrease the technical risks beared by electric grid companies, and identifies the main disadvantage of the existing approach to insurance protection of the electric grid assets. The principal mechanisms of formation of the insurance premium with regard to the specifics of the risks peculiar to this industry are presented herein; the present work also proposes the criteria for assessing the effectiveness of insurance and directions of optimization of insurance coverage of technical risks beared by the companies working in the field of electric grid business.
