The article discusses the emergence and development of non-standard forms of employment and flexible working schedules in the USSR. It reveals the reasons why they were used and shows the results of the research conducted at enterprises. Non-standard forms of employment are attractive even today as they allow enlarging the workforce by the disabled, women with small children and young people as well as reducing the number of the unemployed. The article describes the benefits of such non-standard form of employment as the time bank.
