Abstract:

The article considers the situation related to the increasing popularity of electronic commerce (e-commerce) and analyses the reasons for which electronic commerce replaces the traditional trade in retail outlets. The author reveals the countries that are most promising for the development of this market segment. The success of electronic commerce in Russia is supported by the data on the successful IPO of the Yandex Company, one of the most popular Internet search engines in this country.
