During the last 5-6 years the following processes are taking place in the Saratov Region: the number of the unemployed population is decreasing and the number of the employed population is growing in some sectors of the economy. However, the author notes the discrepancy between the demand and the supply of the labor force in the region and the current demand for the blue-collar qualifications and personnel. In her view, a way to overcome such imbalance is to attract migratory labor resources (mostly foreign ones). This would also mitigate the adverse demographic trends.
