The article examines the relationship of the key performance indicators of a credit institution with the qualitative characteristics of its deposit base. It is established that the task of forming the optimal deposit base is contradictory: it is necessary to ensure a flow of long-term but at the same time stable and inexpensive resources. Finding the right balance is the main issue which the management faces when developing the bank’s resource strategy. The author provides guidance on how it can be achieved.
