The article considers the issue of company towns (monotowns), whose economic security depends on the stability of city-forming enterprises. In particular, the authors are talking about MMC Norilsk Nickel OJSC, the main problem of which is the depletion of natural resources while mining operation is the only business in transpolar Norilsk. The authors calculate the threshold value of the current threats and suggest ways to control and prevent possible violations of stability.
