The paper is devoted to tender development in Russia. The author makes a historical review of competitive tendering in Russia, which initially existed in the form of public bidding. That allows a better understanding of their nature and tradition. The author describes the potential benefits of using tender procedures for developing Russian companies. Having won a tender, even at quite disadvantageous terms, the contractor provides its way to participate in the subsequent, more profitable projects.
