The article deals with the «cult of efficiency» in Russia. The issue is considered in the aspect of management personnel. Based on the data of an empirical study the author concludes that the notion of «efficiency» in Russia in relation to managers is highly distorted and in practice is rather a showiness, associated with loss and irrational use of resources. Such a distortion is caused by many factors, foremost of which are the historical approach to doing business in Russia and the psychological characteristics of its inhabitants.
