Russia»s foreign trade turnover is increasing every year. But how unclouded are the prospects of this growth? The structure of Russian exports is dominated by raw materials and low-technology products (such as inexpensive construction and agricultural machinery and fertilizers). The share of high-tech specialized production, which in particular applies to the shipbuilding industry, accounts for less than 0.3% of the total exports volume. The article discusses how to avoid the inertial scenario, increase the innovation activity and the industry’s competitiveness.
