Abstract:

The author suggests a series of hypotheses to explain the direction of retail trade development in modern Russia. He describes the reaction of the retail industry to the financial crisis of 2008-2009, which forced a quick adoption of a new trade regulation. A brief critical review of the new law is suggested by the author. The novelty of the article is in the proposal to use the concept of the contract form of purchase and (or) sale for the analysis of relations between suppliers, retailers and consumers, and to consider the retail sphere as a set of contracts.
