In the article the author represents the factors of the holistic image of a bank, the most essential of which is its reliability, gives a comparative description of such concepts as "reliability", "stability" and "steadiness”, considers the reasons leading to deterioration of the bank financial condition and proposes the program of reforming the bank system with the purpose of increase in bank capitalization and improvement of interaction with the real sector of economy.
