Abstract:
Competition in the utilities market has just become a reality. But most customers have their gas and electricity supplies already installed, although deregulation means that choice is increasing. This paper proposes to explore the question of the reluctance to switch suppliers, adopting an approach grounded within the consumer behavior literature. We will consider how the consumer decision process for utilities may differ from that of other products.
