In the context of foreign economic policy towards Russia, first of all, with regard to sanctions measures on the food market, new qualitative steps are needed to support domestic producers. They aer as follows: to ensure the stability of the economy, food security of our citizens. In 2014, Russia imposed a food embargo on a number of goods in response to Western sanctions. However, since then to the present time, most Russians believe that suitable for use sanctioned products can not be thrown out, and should be distributed to the poor. As a result, public pressure forced officials to discuss a ban on the destruction of still usable food. The Presidential Council of the Russian Federation supported this initiative. However, Rospotrebnadzor still insists on removing sanctioned goods explaining this by saying that their origin is unknown and they can be dangerous for consumers.
